Security & Upgrades
FACT: Many insurance companies specify that all external doors should have a lock fitted that complies to British Standard 3621 and that all opening ground floor windows and any other accessible windows should have additional window locks fitted. Do your locks comply with this standard? You may be thinking of upgrading your security following concerns about a burglary.
Our engineers can carry out a review of your security and upgrad
e any locks that do not comply with BS 3261. Our vans are fully equipped with a wide range of insurance-approved mortice locks plus locks for wooden, metal or uPVC and patio doors, enabling us to give you peace of mind without delay.
We also provide an emergency locksmith service if you find yourself locked in or out of your property, premises or car.

Advice
- Make sure you have mortice locks fitted to all external doors. (Insurance companies recommend them and burglars hate them because a key is required to open them from the inside as well as the outside).
- Always specify a lock approved to BS3621 for all external doors.
- Burglars know to look under a mat, plant pot, in the garage or shed for a spare key!
- Check that you've locked all the doors and windows - even if you are just popping out for a minute.
- Install a visible burglar alarm, and turn it on!
- Leave a light and the radio on a timer for the evening (available from DIY shops) so that it looks as if the house is occupied.
- Make it difficult for thieves to get into your garden. Erect a good fence, padlock the side gate and lock the shed.
- Make sure your laptop, jewellery and other portable valuables can't be seen from the window. Identify them with a UV security pen.
- If you are going away for a few days, let neighbours know so they can be alert for intruders.
- Don’t leave keys near the front door. Thieves can steal them through the letterbox.
